In tango, a cortina (Spanish for “curtain”) is like a cheeky musical reset button between dance sets. A totally different, non-tango song pops on and basically says, “Time to thank your partner, clear the floor, and maybe make your way into the next dance.” Traditionally, people rarely dance on cortinas. However, we love when people also make use of the cortinas, so we like to play extra danceable (party) music there!
